THOUSANDS of families are being invited to collect a one-off payment of £320 directly into their bank accounts.<\/p>\n

Those on low incomes or certain benefits could get free financial help from their local council to help tackle the cost of living crisis.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Residents are invited to collect a one-off payment of £320<\/p>\n

For example, Northamptonshire residents are eligible to receive up to £320 in cash.<\/p>\n

North Northamptonshire Council has awarded funding to households struggling to manage food and energy costs.<\/p>\n

Residents can find out if their financial situation means they qualify on the Household Support Fund pages on the NNC website.<\/p>\n

They will need to fill out a simple online form as well as upload payslips and proof of identity.<\/p>\n

This one-off payment depends on the size of the household and can be transferred electronically. <\/p>\n

Cllr Helen Harrison, executive member for adults, health and wellbeing, said they also help families with children on free school meals.<\/p>\n

She told the Northamptonshire Telegraph: “They get £15 a week supermarket vouchers per child, sent by schools for all holiday periods until Easter 2024.<\/p>\n

“The same voucher support is given to families who have decided to homeschool but meet the criteria for free school meals.<\/p>\n

“All those who reach the free school meals threshold have also been given the opportunity to take part in sessions through Leisure Activities and Food (HAF) run by Northamptonshire Sport for Northamptonshire Council.”<\/p>\n

The help comes as part of the latest round of the £842 million Household Support Fund.<\/p>\n

The money is provided by the Government, which distributed it to councils in England.<\/p>\n

They then decide how to divide their share of the fund.<\/p>\n

It was supposed to end in March this year, but it was extended until April 2024, which means that households can receive more support.<\/p>\n

Each council receives a different part of the funds depending on the size of the area, number of inhabitants and needs.<\/p>\n

Grants offered vary by location, so you’ll need to check what you can get and how the municipality will pay you.<\/p>\n

And each council distributes its share in the HSF differently.<\/p>\n

Some distribute vouchers, while others make bank transfers to eligible citizens.<\/p>\n

For example, eligible households can get £900 free if they live in the West Midlands and Sandwell Borough Council is their local authority.<\/p>\n

You will usually need to be on a low income to get help.<\/p>\n
