A FORMER chart-topping bassist has been jailed for abusing a 12-year-old boy after using his fame to take advantage of the “star” victim.<\/p>\n

John Chambers, who played in the ’80s band Paper Lace, treated the young man to Chinese takeout and drinks.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

He then used a chilling “motto” to explain his torturous actions, telling the boy: “This is good, clean fun.”<\/p>\n

The 73-year-old has now been jailed for ten-and-a-half years after admitting eight charges of indecent assault.<\/p>\n

Nottingham Crown Court heard how the victim “lay like a brick” as the abuse took place.<\/p>\n

In a harrowing victim impact statement, the boy added: “I couldn’t escape my thoughts and my own mind.”<\/p>\n

Chambers groomed the “star” victim, giving him treats he wouldn’t get at home.<\/p>\n

The bassist, who joined the band in 1983, also abused the boy along with Paper Lace’s roadie and boyfriend Andrew Polkey.<\/p>\n

He took the victim to Polkey’s apartment where they gave him cannabis and forced him to have sick sex.<\/p>\n

The passenger also abused another victim, another 12-year-old boy, who said he felt “voiceless” and could not speak after the ordeal.<\/p>\n

Chambers was previously convicted of possessing indecent images of children in 2005.<\/p>\n

He will remain on a sexual assault prevention order and on the sex offenders’ register for life.<\/p>\n

Polkey, 56, admitted 17 charges of indecent assault and was jailed for 13 years.<\/p>\n

A third defendant, Matthew Mardell, 46, pleaded guilty to two counts of indecent assault on one of the same boys as Polkey, but was given a suspended sentence.<\/p>\n
