Robert and Josie Barty, Ash’s parents, were both successful athletes who previously represented Queensland in golf. Ash Barty is a former Australian professional tennis player and cricketer. After fellow Aboriginal Australian Evonne Goolagong Cawley, she was the second Australian tennis player to be ranked No. 1 in the world in singles by the Women’s Tennis Association. After success in singles and doubles competition, she achieved 2nd place in the ITF world junior ranking in her career. In 2009, at the age of 13, she started participating in the ITF Junior Circuit.<\/p>
