British YouTuber AngryGinge13 is facing backlash for “mocking” poverty by singing along to a chant during a soccer match.

AngryGinge13 has quickly made a name for himself in the world of streaming, with TikTok videos going viral left, right and centre, showing off his hot moments while live streaming.

However, Ginge was recently criticized for “mocking poverty” after singing along to a chant during a football match.

AngryGinge apologizes for food poverty slogan

Known to be a Manchester United fan, AngryGinge attended their recent match on November 26 at Everton’s Goodison Park, during which he sang along to a hymn about wage poverty real.

Since then, the YouTuber has received a lot of backlash for singing along, leading to an apology.

“Sincerely sorry for changing that slogan,” he wrote on Twitter/X. “I didn’t think it meant anything, and as someone who comes from that background, I feel your anger and can only apologize. I’m really disappointed in myself and very sorry.”

Also posting a video, the man explained that he was “caught up in the moment” and explained that he sympathized with his fans. “I’m so sorry for singing that hymn. I just got caught up in that moment and didn’t even think it really meant anything,” he said.

According to this YouTuber, he did not fully understand the meaning of the chant and he himself was in a similar situation so he understood the backlash.

“I’m so sorry for singing it, I’m really sorry if I offended you. I 100% come from that background myself, I went to the state council, £1 microwave meals a night,” he explains.

“I 100% empathize and sympathize with you. I’m so sorry for saying that. I really don’t mean anything by it. I was carried away, I was singing hymns.”

He added: “I am extremely sorry if I have offended. Honestly, I’m very disappointed. I’m so sorry, I understand your anger 100%. It is true that the king is wrong.”

Fans asked the YouTuber to donate money to local food banks to show his apology. “Donate some money to local food banks,” one person wrote. “Donate some of your money to Liverpool food banks and all will be forgotten,” said another.
