Below Deck’s Kate Chastain got candid about the role her former teammates play in her newborn’s life.
Kate Chastain worked under Captain Lee as his main handler for 5 seasons on BravoTV’s Below Deck.
Even though she left the show after Season 7, Chastain still maintains a close relationship with Captain Lee, as the two are currently co-hosting a new talk show called Couch Talk with Captain Lee and Kate .
Chastain is also a new mother who gave birth to son Sullivan this May. Even though she’s busy at home, she also took time to talk to ET about motherhood and Captain Lee’s role in Sullivan’s life.

Kate Chastain calls Captain Lee her son’s “surrogate grandfather.”
Chastain may no longer be a steward of the seas — however, she’s taken on a new major role as a mom, which has her raving about all things related to her newborn .
In an exclusive interview with ET, Chastain shared who from Below Deck is involved in her son’s life, as she remains friends with some of her former teammates.
While speaking with ET, Chastain admitted that Captain Lee is her son’s “surrogate grandfather.”
She also jokingly described Captain Lee’s presence in Sullivan’s life saying, “Captain Lee was the kind of person to Sullivan that you would say, ‘I don’t wear diapers.’”

Chastain continued, “I think, you know, he loved him from afar.”
Although Captain Lee was a prominent figure in Sullivan’s life, Chastain also spoke about a former Below Deck teammate who was just as important, calling Ben Robinson “fun.”
Additionally, Chastain talked about life as a new mom, as she was surprised to find that babies don’t naturally know how to do ‘tummy time’, she said: “You have to teach them everything the right way literal meaning”.
As for what’s next for Chastain, she and Captain Lee will continue their talk show, which airs every Monday on BravoTV at 10:30pm EST.
