A popular Call of Duty live stream moderator has been banned from Twitch just days after he used a homophobic slur on stream.
On October 17, 2023, Doug ‘Censor’ Martin apologized on Twitter/X after using a homophobic slur on stream.
It happened during a Modern Warfare 2 broadcast on Twitch, where he started a war of words with a teammate. Just days later, he was at fault again with racial slurs on stream.
Just six days later, on October 23, Martin was banned from Twitch.
Censors banned from Twitch after slurs
At the time of writing, the Censorship Twitch channel issued a general ban notice.
“This channel is temporarily unavailable due to violating Twitch’s Community Guidelines or Terms of Service,” it wrote.
The moderator admitted that he was wrong to issue an apology, but using slurs on stream was against Twitch TOS.

According to Twitch Guidelines, the use of hateful slurs is not allowed on Twitch.
“Using hateful slurs, without a specific target or directed at another individual. We allow the use of certain words or terms, which may violate our policies, in a manner that confers rights or as terms of endearment when that intent is clear. We also make exceptions for slurs in music — and singing along to music — as long as the song itself is not hateful and the slurs are not combined with discriminatory content other treatment or defamation,” it said.
The censors are yet to respond to the ban, but we will be sure to update you when we hear back. In the meantime, head over to our entertainment section for more news.
