Her character was written like something out of a soap opera after she got a job offer she couldn’t refuse in Norwich.

The actress revealed everything about the early arrival of her daughter – five months after birth.

She said her arrival came earlier than expected, which shocked her and her husband of six years, Chris Farr.

The mother of three told OK magazine: “I’m so aware of how precious this time is and how quickly it goes by. It’s still chaos. I mean, it used to be chaos, but now it’s another level!”

Her daughter is called Doris and was born just before midnight on April 4 at Manchester’s Wythenshawe Hospital, weighing 7lb 11oz.

They are now a family of five because Jennie and Chris have two older children, eight-year-old Albert and four-year-old Hilda.

And they also had a word on behalf of their younger sister.

Jennie revealed the reasoning behind her baby’s name: “There were a lot of boy names thrown out, mostly because of football. Albert is a Manchester United fan and I think he left us with about two boy names to choose from.

“Doris is a family name and I love that it goes with Albert and Hilda. They’re all very ‘Corrie’ too.

“The actress who played the first landlady of the Rovers, Annie Walker, was called Doris Speed so there’s obviously something in my DNA that means these baby names keep happening!

“People used to say Albert and Hilda sounded like two childhood sweethearts who wrote to each other during the war. Now it’s Aunt Doris who’s come to join them.”

Doris has already met some of the Corrie stars and Jennie added: “She had a lot of cuddles in the green room with Maureen and Alan and we met my new mother-in-law, played by Claire Sweeney.

“And then we went to the canteen where Alan held Doris while I ate my lunch, which was bliss.”

Jennie will return to the soap after a year of maternity leave.

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
