G20 Summit 2023: Which Indian cities will host the event?

India will host the G20 leaders’ summit in 2023 for the first time in the country’s history. The summit will be held in New Delhi in September and will be attended by more than 40 heads of delegation, the largest number ever to attend a G20 summit. Beginning on May 22, a three-day meeting will be held in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. J&K’s special status was revoked in 2019 and has been the subject of controversy and hostilities ever since. China has already boycotted the meeting that was supposed to be held in Srinagar.

Currently, Jammu and Kashmir is under three-tier security as this is the first major international event to be held there in the last few years.

The theme of the G20 summit in 2023:

The official G20 summit website explains: “The theme of India’s G20 presidency – ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ or ‘One Earth · One Family · One Future’ – is drawn from the ancient Sanskrit text of the Maha Upanishad. In essence, the theme affirms the value of all life – human, animal, plant and microorganism – and their mutual connection on planet Earth and in the wider universe.

The theme also highlights LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), its associated environmentally sustainable and responsible choices, both at the level of individual lifestyles and national development, leading to globally transformative actions that result in a cleaner, greener and bluer future.”
