Families took shelter while sunbeds and umbrellas were blown across the beaches after the storm hit around 11 a.m.
With winds gusting to 55 km/h, the cruise ship was even sent barreling into an oil tanker off the island, leaving some passengers with minor injuries.
Thousands of Britons could now find themselves stranded after the ship, the P&O Britannia, broke loose due to fierce winds.
Tugboats braved 10-foot waves to moor the 140,000-ton ship.
A P&O spokesman said: “On Sunday 27 August, P&O Cruises Britannia was involved in a weather-related incident while in Palma de Mallorca.
“A small number of people received minor injuries and were treated at the medical center on board.
“To allow our technical teams to make an assessment, Britannia will remain in Palma de Mallorca tonight with entertainment and activities planned.”
In the disturbing footage, a woman with a small child can be seen hiding behind a car as a thunderstorm rages around them.
Debris from the storm could be seen flying around as palm trees struggled to stay rooted and rushing water flooded the streets.
A pregnant woman was rushed to hospital after being hit by a sign that was blown down by the wind, according to local reports.
Trees were downed, blocking roads and causing travel chaos across the island.
The windows of local shops were devastated by the storm, which scattered stalls and market supplies on the streets.
One video, shared by BBC meteorologist Barra Best from Northern Ireland, shows beach structure being pushed by the wind onto the balconies of tourists at a coastal hotel in Mallorca.
Many resorts were destroyed after being hit by storm debris, flooding and winds.
Andratx is one of the areas most affected by wild weather.
According to local reports, officials dealt with more than 80 floods within an hour this morning.
Basements and roads throughout the holiday hotspot were flooded throughout the day.
The storm has so far caused 84 storm-related accidents, according to the Majorca Daily Bulletin.
Severe weather warnings and amber warnings have been issued today across Majorca, Ibiza, Menorca and Formentera.
And the dangerous weather will continue into this evening and throughout the night.
Meteorologists from the Spanish agency Aemet met predict that the Tramuntana region and the northern and northeastern parts of the island will be the hardest hit.
The Met Office has also warned Britons of wet and wild conditions.
He posted a video of Mallorca being hit by heavy rain and wind, with the caption: “Severe thunderstorms hit the Balearic Islands, bringing heavy rain and gale-force winds.”
Warnings of moderate rain and wind are in place for all four Balearic Islands tomorrow.
