How to block people on Snapchat

If it’s time to block one of your friends on Snapchat, here’s how to do it:

Step 1: Open the Snapchat app on your mobile device and select A bubble with a message icon to open conversation screen.

(You can also just swipe right on the screen to open conversation screen.)

Step 2: Long press the name of the friend you want to block. Select from the menu that appears Manage your friendship.

Step 3: Then from Manage your friendship menu, select Block. Then choose Block again to confirm.

How to unblock people on Snapchat

If you later change your mind and want to unblock a friend on Snapchat, you can. Here’s how:

Step 1: Open the Snapchat app on your mobile device. Then choose yours Profile icon.

Step 2: Then select settings gear icon. On settings screen, scroll down to Actions on the account section. Choose from this section Blocked.

Step 3: On Blocked screen select gray x icon next to the name of the person you want to unblock. Then choose That confirm.

How to prevent Snapchat users you’re not friends with from contacting you

Maybe your problem isn’t blocking specific Snapchat friends, but preventing strangers from contacting you on Snapchat at all. If this is the case, you should know that it is possible to prevent those who are not your friends from contacting you. To do this, you’ll need to access Snapchat’s settings screen instead of the chat screen.

Here’s how to stop strangers from messaging you on Snapchat:

Step 1: Open the Snapchat app on your mobile device and select your Profile icon.

Step 2: Then select settings gear icon.

Step 3: On settings screen, go to Privacy control section and select Contact me.

(This option can also be displayed as Who can contact me.)

Step 4: On the next screen select Friends option. This will ensure that only users you’ve added as friends on Snapchat can contact you.

Note: It’s also worth noting that if a stranger contacts you on Snapchat, you can still block them. Just open their chat on conversation screen and select Report or block option that appears in their chat.
