Jake Rust in 60 days

The A&E Network’s 60 Days In returns for another season with seven brave contestants who will go undercover in a prison to investigate day-to-day operations as part of a mission to spark change. These good Samaritans, including Jake, are willing to put their lives on the line even if it means saving at least one soul in prison.

But while some of the participants are ex-convicts, drug addicts or prison officers, Jake’s only motivation for being on the show was his father, who was incarcerated when he was in high school. Another inspiration for Jake’s involvement was season 7 contestant Darius (his icon) who counseled inmates on how to improve upon release.

“I want to help inmates where they don’t make the same mistakes that got them there,” Jake said.

Now, Jake may look like a fan, but his will to change lives was second to none. And even if he might not last long, his courage to enter the prison under a false identity for the sake of reform and entertainment is truly commendable.

Joining Jake as an undercover prisoner for 60 days in Season 8 were his co-stars – Feli Flame, Curtis Williams, Sarah Anselment, Jamil Powell, Brittney, Clydell, Steven and Charlotte.

Jake Rust’s family

Although they didn’t have the best past, Jake Rust doesn’t mind talking about his family, The 60 Days In star revealed that his father John Rust was sent to prison when he was still in high school. But he came out before the mid-90s and turned his life around.

Today, John works as a senior technical advisor for various insurance companies in Columbus, Ohio. His job is to provide expert consultation to the insurance community in matters of computer failure/causation and analysis of computer network equipment, computer forensics and cyber incidents; working with insurance companies to diagnose and submit work orders and prices for repair or replacement; setting up user accounts, permissions and passwords for clients and employees; and test products or equipment for potential failure while documenting testing processes and reporting daily to the client on all responsibilities, tasks and funding required to complete the case.

A 2003 Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering Technology from DeVry University, John has also worked for PT&C|LWG Forensic Consulting Services, ExpressPoint Technology Services, Battelle and Diebold Inc.

At ExpressPoint, as a Senior Electronics Technician 4, John maintained information databases and created reports on them for the Senior Project Manager, and completed networking, BIOS updates, and imaging of Google servers.

As for Jake’s mother, Holly Rust was born in Springfield, Ohio and attended Kenton Ridge High School. Find her on IG @mrs_rust___ and FB @HollyRust.

John and Holly got married back on April 25, 1995. The difference between them is two years.

Sadly, Jake’s great-grandmother Dorothy L. (Krieg) Smith passed away on November 26, 2015 at the age of 90. She owned and operated E. High Carryout for many years and previously worked for Krieg Bros Plumbing.
