On September 2, the Center established a commission to analyze the multiple aspects involved in the “one nation, one election” plan. The committee will be responsible for in-depth consideration of all aspects, both logistical and legal.

The Ministry of Law provided seven tasks for the panel. The commission consists of eight members and includes Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The panel is chaired by former President of India Ram Nath Kovind. The panel will explore the possibility of the “one nation, one election” idea.

The One Nation One Election plan is an attempt to give a new shape to India’s electoral landscape. The government planned a special session of the Parliament from September 18 to 22.

Understanding the idea of ​​”One nation, one election”.

The idea of ​​”One Nation, One Election” basically deals with the concept of simultaneous holding of elections across the country for both Lok Sabha and State Assemblies. This would mean that, when implemented, elections to all state assemblies and the Lok Sabha would be held simultaneously, and voting for all those elections would take place simultaneously.

The Prime Minister himself advocated the idea for a long time.

Currently, elections for the state assemblies and the Lok Sabha are held at separate intervals after the five-year term of the current government ends.

The plan comes with certain benefits that need to be discussed. For one thing, collaborative surveys clearly lead to big savings. According to reports, an amount of around 60,000 crore rupees is earmarked for use at the time of the Lok Sabha elections 2019. This huge expenditure included the expenses of political parties along with the expenses of organizing the elections made by the Election Commission.

Voter turnout could increase
