SomeOrdinaryGamers uploaded a lengthy response to The Completionist’s legal threats. In the video, Mutahar doubles down on his previous accusations of charity fraud against The Completionist and The Open Hand Foundation (OHF).
A recent joint investigation by YouTuber Karl Jobst and Mutahar of SomeOrdinaryGamers sent shockwaves across the wider Internet. Two content co-founders charged Jirard Khalil, also known as The Completionist, with charity fraud.
Initial reports revealed that The Open Hand Foundation (OHF), a charity run by Jirard and his family, withheld funds in excess of $600,000 donated through the Indieland Charitable Stream. A subsequent investigation by Jobst and Mutahar also accused OHF of misreporting donation amounts.
After a long period of silence, Khalil and OHF finally donated the money and responded to the allegations in a video that many believe exonerated him. Both Jobst and Mutahar promised to follow up, and now, Mutahar has published a 55-minute video on the YouTube channel SomeOrdinaryGamers dissecting Khalil’s assertions that he did not commit charity fraud.
Mutahar escalates charity fraud allegations against The Completionist
In response, Mutahar accused The Completionist of avoiding key points in their investigation with “legalese”. He included a two-minute supercut of Khalil naming specific charities with which OHF was said to have partnered, which, in his own response, Khalil determined was “potentially misleading.” wrong”.
“It’s really you trying to downplay factually misleading statements,” Mutahar asserted. “The whole story exists because people mistakenly believe their money is going to charity every year when really it’s just shit sitting in an account.”
The video focuses on instances where Khalil uses terms such as “lead funding partner” to describe OHF’s relationships with existing charities. “When they talk about ‘likely to mislead’, I don’t think it’s ‘likely’ to mislead, it’s quite misleading,” Mutahar argued.
Mutahar disregarded the Completor’s inspection report
In response to Mutahar and Jobst’s initial reporting on OHF’s retained funds, The Completionist obtained audits from regulators to demonstrate that the money had not been spent.
“An audit literally just proves that money was moved properly,” Mutahar explains. “It will never really address the main criticism which is how much money was actually solicited through false statements.”
Regarding further reports alleging possible misreporting of contributions to OHF, The Completionist mentioned specific amounts accumulated from other sources. However, he did not provide any documents to prove the accounting.
“How can someone say he provided a tangible receipt when he didn’t show anything on the screen and he didn’t show anything linked in the description?” Mutahar asked. “It literally requires you to take this man at his word, which, throughout this entire investigation, has shown you to do anything but.”
Mutahar’s assertion is that solicitation of donations based on misrepresentation of relationships with other charities falls within the legal definition of charity fraud. Despite threats of legal recourse from The Completionist and OHF, he appeared not worried at all.
“Ultimately, charity fraud is the main argument we want to see resolved, and we have not seen it adequately addressed in this situation,” Mutahar argued. “You can’t just put a Band-Aid on it and say ‘UwU oopsie,’ and then deflect by mentioning unrelated points.”
