This cover includes solicitation information for April Superman #3. Series artist Jamal Campbell’s cover depicts a near-classic mid-air kiss between Superman and Lois Lane, but with a deadly twist. Superman is wrapped in Lois’ many arms, and her skin appears to turn purple – not unlike Superman’s classic villain, the Parasite. Most concerning is the glowing and cracked skin around their mouths, suggesting that the parasitic Lois is actually sucking the life force from Superman through their kiss. Superman’s love for Lois Lane has never been scarier

Of course, Lois Lane is as essential to Superman’s world as the likes of Krypton or Lex Luthor—even more so, since she predates both Earth and the CEO. Lois, Clark Kent’s wife and lover for decades, was a hero in her own right: an award-winning journalist who fought for truth and justice in her very essence. Parasite, on the other hand, has been Superman’s nemesis for decades. While there have been many human parasite characters over the years, one of the more iconic appearances is the purple, almost lizard-like humanoid monster. Parasites have the ability to drain power and energy from anything they come into contact with, including humans and, of course, Superman himself.

If Parasite now has the ability to “infect” others with his energy-draining abilities, Superman would be in more danger than ever — and so would Lois Lane. While Lois Lane can (and has many times) tell her own story, she’s almost always rooting for Superman and Clark Kent. Seeing her transform into a strange and terrifying monster on the cover and striking the iconic kissing pose was a shocking change for her character.

How would Lois Lane and Superman survive and encounter the parasite if Lois herself was infected by the supervillain? While the issue’s cover begins with Lois Lane’s terrifying new look teasing a dangerous situation, readers will have to wait for answers to their questions.
