7 Little Johnstons: Who Are Trent Johnston’s Parents?

Little Johnstons series 7 star Trent Johnston is the son of Peter Johnston and Mary Alice Johnston. On Peter and Mary’s anniversary in December 2022, Heidi wished his parents: “49 years ago today these two lovebirds tied the knot!! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY mom and dad!.”

Trent was born on March 17, 1976 and is 47 years old. Star of TLC’s hit series Seven Little Johnstonsthe series follows patriarch Trent Johnston, his wife Amber and their five children: two are biological (Jonah, Elizabeth) and (Anna, Alex and Emma) are adopted.

Anna is from Russia, Alex is from South Korea, and Emma is from China. Amber, Trent and their five children have achondroplasia.

“Our family was created not only by birth but also by adoption,” Amber shared in a video for TLC. “Trent and I are extremely proud of it.” In the same clip, Trent explained that there were “a lot of complications” when it came to Jonah’s birth, and giving birth as a dwarf comes with more risks.

“Then we had Elizabeth,” Trent continued. “And when Amber gave birth to Elizabeth, Elizabeth was a very big girl, and it took quite a toll on Amber’s body.” He then said that Amber has a 25% chance of having a child that will die at birth. “Twenty-five percent chance your child won’t survive? That’s very big for us.”

Jonah and Elizabeth Johnston will make frequent appearances in Season 13 of 7 Little Johnstons. The eldest child of Amber and Trent Johnston, Jonah had a hard time adjusting to life at home. When Jonah was 21, he started dating Ashley, who the Johnstons’ parents didn’t like. They also gave him a deadline to leave their house.

Trent Johnston’s father’s name is Pete “Poppy” Johnson. He posted pictures of his father on his 88th birthday on his IG in September 2022.

Trent wrote: “This legend is 88 years old today!! #našmak @trentjohnston7lj.” Poppy series fans also congratulated her on her birthday. One UK fan commented: “Well he’s the youngest 88 I’ve ever seen. Good for him. Can you be together for many more years? I lost mine when I was 32, along with my mom at 34. So take care of them, Trent. Love from me in Great Britain 😘❤”

Trent planned a party at his house for Father’s Day and arranged for a car service to pick up and drop off his parents there. Exclusive footage, however, shows they failed.

Trent phones his sister Heidi after he doesn’t hear from the garage about their arrival, and sadly discovers that they aren’t arriving. Poppy now uses a wheelchair and depends on Trent’s mother to get him dressed and ready for the day as his health has deteriorated over the years.

Trent talks about how hard it is for his dad these days and tells the camera, “We don’t know how many more Father’s Days we’re going to get with my dad, and it’s too much of a struggle.”

He goes on to say, “It’s too hard for him when we go and get him and try to get him out of the wheelchair and put him in the car and then fill up the cart. We live only an hour away from them, but over the years it’s getting harder and harder for my dad to travel and get around.”

Meet Mary Alice Johnston, mother of Trent Johnston

Mary Alice Maddox Johnston is the mother of Trent Johnston. She turned 77 in August 2022.

Mary attended and graduated from George Washington High School in 1964. She was a former aide in the Henry County Schools. In May 2010, Heidi posted on her Facebook that they were celebrating Mom’s retirement after 28 years in the Henry County School System at Fairview Elementary School.
