Launched in 2020, Max offers programming from its branded brands, such as HBO, Cartoon Network and Warner Bros. Legacy shows like The Soprano family, Wire, Successionand Game of Thrones everything can be viewed on the service as well as current films such as Batman. And original programming, like Hacks and Stewardess, exists under “Max Originals.” In 2023, HBO Max and Discovery+ will be consolidated into one platform following the merger of WarnerMedia and Discovery.

Beginning in 2023, HBO Max, now Max as of May 23, has two tiers of service. One has an advertisement and costs less. The other has no ads and costs more, but also has a few extra features. Here’s how it breaks down:

• Max with Ads: Costs $10 per month or $100 per year. You’ll get the same content with some advertising, but it’s all in premium HD. You should expect up to four minutes of ads per hour.
• Ad-free Max: Costs $16 per month or $150 per year. There are no ads, you can download content to watch offline on mobile devices, and selected movies are available in 4K resolution.

The advertising tier launched in 2022. The ad-free price remained the same from launch in May 2022 before increasing by $1 in January 2023.

Is Shazam! Wrath of the Gods worth watching?

Only if you set your expectations low. Shazam! Wrath of the Gods it’s not a bad movie, it just wastes all the potential the franchise built in the first movie. The Shazam family is the best part, but they don’t have much to do but sit around and complain about having nothing to do.

The villains aren’t great either. Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu are talented actresses, but they can only do so much with the thin material they’re given as the film’s ridiculous antagonists. Perhaps this movie plays better at home when you can’t pay too much attention to the film’s glaring plot holes or excessive use of CGI.

On Rotten Tomatoes, Shazam! Wrath of the Gods it scores 49% on the Tomatometer and 86% audience score.
