Her stage appearances included the 1964 musical Pickwick, The Pickwick Papers, as the Beggar Woman in the 1980 London West End production of Sweeney Todd.

She appeared in films including Calculated Risks in which she played Julie in 1963. She played Mavis in the comedy-drama Two Left Feet in the same year. Dilys also appeared in the horror film Theater of Death as Heidi in 1967.
